10 Commercial Patio Transformations: Before and After
Outdoor dining and lounge spaces have become prized possessions for any business that caters to people. Restaurants, bars, and even apartment complexes have turned their attention to renovating and upgrading these spaces to enhance the experiences of their guests and customers.
Along with shade, some have added outdoor heaters to create three-season spaces. This translates to additional value, function, and extension of useable space. Here are 10 before and after commercial patios that are dressed to impress.
1. The Livmore
The Livmore caters to those who want the condo lifestyle with outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy. Its 5th floor includes a game room, theater, outdoor dog area, fitness area, and a spacious outdoor terrace overlooking the streets of Toronto. Helping the Livmore residents make the most out of their outdoors, LandArt Design specified retractable shade structures for added weather protection. Covering two separate areas, ShadeFX customized two unique structures and six waterproof canopies.

After being in business for over five decades, the family decided to give Ellis Island a facelift and expand its footprint. Its latest edition, The Front Yard, is a two-story indoor/outdoor venue with a premium bar and full-service restaurant. The definitive feature in the space is its impressive barrel-vaulted ceiling. Working with partners KALB Industries, ShadeFX manufactured and installed twelve arched canopies covering the over 3,000 sq. ft. ceiling. With a capacity of over 300, each customer is treated to clear open skies and protected from occasional showers, with a push of a button.

West Vancouver’s most iconic restaurant, Beach House, reopened after major renovations in November 2019. Its new interior is bright and open with direct views of the seaside. However, it’s the restaurant’s expansive patio that can lay claim to the best scenery in ‘West Van’. Protected by a large white timber pergola and versatile retractable roofs, the duo is perfect for those rainy or extremely sunny days. Commercial-grade heaters were installed below, providing much-need heat to the 1,000 sq ft patio on cooler days.

When patio season is in full bloom, The Crooked Cue in Mississauga sets up their pop-up patio. Hello, we are looking for a sun and rain solution for a 40 x 40 patio at our wedding venue. We would be interested in pricing for a water-proof manual system. White would be the preferred color. Email correspondence is preferred, we are often with guests at the venue, and send calls to voicemail. I can send photos of the patio and adjoining event space, can’t attach a photo here.
