Rooftop 25 at Twenty Five Lusk
Twenty Five Lusk in San Francisco’s SOMA district is a dynamic restaurant, lounge and bar offering creative cuisine, wines and cocktails. The five-star loft-like establishment has three distinct spaces, including ROOFTOP 25, which provides casual seating with upbeat music and city views. ShadeFX provided seven attached aluminum structures equipped with gutters and fire-retardant retractable canopies to transform the outdoor space into a year-round functional area with comfortable seating, no matter the forecast.
Hemingway’s at Cambria Hotel
Asheville’s downtown Cambria Hotel boasts Hemingway’s Cuba, a patio restaurant on its fourth-floor terrace offering Cuban cuisine with an impressive view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. To protect guests from Asheville’s humid subtropical climate, three 24×18 motorized canopies with gutters were installed on a steel pergola for 1300 sq ft of weather coverage.
Ten at Clarendon
Ten at Clarendon, a new luxury apartment community, features expansive indoor/outdoor amenities, easy access to public transit, and a unique rooftop venue, which benefited from ShadeFX’s retractable shade structures. To define the rooftop, ShadeFX customized and installed six 18’x14′ structures totalling 1,500 sq. ft. of coverage. The structures were painted black grey and each bay uses a motor-operated retractable canopy in Sunbrella Grey Sand Fabric.
Noyane Rooftop at Conrad Hotel
Chicago Conrad Hotel’s crowning achievement, Noyane, boasts a spacious outdoor rooftop overlooking the skyline, serving up modern Japanese cuisine and cocktails to guests and local elites. ShadeFX integrated six retractable roofs over the massive bar, blending with the structure’s steel finishing and design while providing weather protection for three-season use.
The Cloudveil
The newly renovated Cloudveil Hotel in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, offers breathtaking views and modern amenities in an elegant interior. Its 5,000 sq ft rooftop terrace features four 18×18 and two 18×14 custom structures with retractable roofs for sun/rain protection under motor-operated, neutral Ferrari Champagne fabric. Ten motorized rolldown screens with clear vinyl allow for year-round community activities such as yoga, live music, and stargazing. Twelve gas-powered heaters are also installed to keep the space warm.
The Graham Rooftop
At The Graham Georgetown’s rooftop lounge in DC, guests can take in breathtaking views of the Potomac River, Rosslyn and more. Its existing black structure was upgraded with three retractable roofs under a steel-coloured Dickson Arcade FR fabric for 760 sq ft of coverage to maximize business regardless of weather conditions. Cushiony furniture and top-tier labels complete the experience for after-work hangouts or weekend gatherings.
The Livmore
The Livmore caters to luxury condo-seekers, providing outdoor amenities in the heart of Toronto. Its 5th floor boasts a game room, theatre, outdoor dog area, fitness area, and outdoor terrace with retractable shades for added weather protection. LandArt Design proposed dual-post, dual-beam structures customized to meet its unique design. ShadeFX was part of every step from engineering to installation.
The Keg Steakhouse and Bar
The Keg Steakhouse + Bar at Sherway Gardens in Ontario was part of a $550 million makeover project. The restaurant boasts a rooftop patio with a 600 sq. ft. opening that can be covered or opened based on weather and guests’ comfort. Two motorized canopies were installed to cover the area, which can be operated with ease using a wall switch.
Incarnate Word Academy Rooftop Patio
In 2017, Incarnate Word Academy in Houston unveiled its new 18,500 sq. ft. academic building, designed by SBWV Architects and constructed by EE Reed Construction. The expansion features collaborative learning spaces, a fine arts studio, garden courtyard, and rooftop patio. SBWV needed a stylish and durable solution for sun protection on the patio, and ShadeFX worked closely with them to install four 20X12 rope operated canopies that fit seamlessly into the design.
Montrose Apartments in Mountain View
Real estate developer Prometheus understands the need for access to recreational and entertainment amenities in expensive real estate markets. The Montrose Apartments in Mountain View, CA, is a prime example. Residents enjoy a kinetic fitness centre, neighbour clubhouse, theatre, pool and spa – but the rooftop terraces are the star of the show. ShadeFX was engaged for a retractable shade solution, covering 480 square feet with four underside rope-operated canopies using fire-retardant fabric (Ferrari). The canopies were powder-coated black to match the steel rooftop pergola.
Craft Beer Market, Kelowna
Craft Beer Market opened its flagship location in Calgary’s historic Beltline in 2011 and quickly expanded to eight locations with one branch in Kelowna, British Columbia. The rooftop on the third floor of the old Paramount theatre is a favorite amongst visitors with magnificent views of Lake Okanagan and the City Park. ShadeFX customized seven retractable roofs adding nearly 1700 square feet of sun and rain protection to create a three-season rooftop patio. The roofs are installed using a ‘kissing’ application where they extend towards each other, creating a water-tight seal, powder-coated black to match the stained structure, and covered with a fire-retardant Arcade FR waterproof fabric.
Harriet’s Rooftop at 1Hotel Toronto
1 Hotel Toronto is a paradise among the bustling streets of King Street West in downtown Toronto. Guests can enjoy its nature-centric design, rooftop pool and plunge pool, Harriet’s Rooftop restaurant & bar, plus over 750 sq ft of protected terrace space. Three attached structures and retractable roofs keep visitors cool in summer months or warm during winter, while mounted heaters provide year-round comfort. Guests are also treated to stunning views of Toronto’s skyline!
Govan Brown Associates Headquarters
Govan Brown is a construction company with national offices, providing exceptional service, quality work and innovation. At their Toronto office, they have made the ambitious move to the city’s West End. To make their new space employee-centric, they included a rooftop patio and clubhouse. To ensure protection from the elements, ShadeFX was chosen to assess the site, manufacture and install a 48’x16′ outdoor structure with three 16’x16′ motorized retractable canopies.
